April 30th: Trout Festival : This event is put on by the Department of Fish and Game. The Fish Hatchery is located 1 & ½ miles north of
Kernville on Sierra Way (Mtn. 99) Family fun and educational for all.
April 29th thru May 1st: 11th Annual Bioregions Festival. The Kern River Preserve hosts this yearly event to promote our
Riparian Forests & Wetlands which are home to thousands of species of wildlife. Centered in Circle Park in Kernville
is the 2nd Annual Butterfly Count @ the Kern River Preserve
April 23rd Numerous booths offering activities, information, artwork and crafts. Scheduled hikes and birdwatches are available throughout
the weekend. This is a must see event for all you “Nature Lovers.”

May 7th: Gigantic Sirretta Street Swap Meet / Kernville. Plan ahead for this yearly street sale. It is
absolutely the largest public street sale of them all. Residents get together to sale items in front of their
homes all along the entire street of Siretta. What was once their stash can be your treasure! Great Fun!!
May 7th: Kern River Valley Classic Car Show in Kernville-The KernValley Rotary Club is celebrating their 100th year
and their 6th year sponoring this event! The cars must be 1975 or older to
participate. There will be trophies, prizes and live band. If that is not enough to perk up your intrest, the rotary members
will be providing car rides to the Siretta Street Sale or to the Kern Valley Airport for senic airplane rides. For more info. Call Marie @

Kern River Valley Historical Society History Days
The museum located in downtown Kernville takes you back to the days of Whiskey Flats. Demonstrations of butter-churning, Gold-Panning and Branding Cattle just to mention a few. This small town museum has one of the largest on site old movie libaries, indian and pioneer artifacts and antique items that are one of a kind.
May 28th thru May 29th: 42nd Annual Spring Fine Arts and Crafts Festival
The name says it all…..the weather is great, the artwork fine and the crafts are all on display for your enjoyment in Circle Park, Kernville.
The Kern River Preserve will be holding their 3rd Annual Sequoia Forest South Butterfly Count on
June 4th. On June 11th – 12th the 4th Annual Amphibian and Reptile Celebration for all of you frog and lizard fans.
June 11th: It doesn’t get much better than this! Free Fishing Day and Kids Fishing Derby. This yearly event is put on by the Fish and Game Habitat Club. Children 12 years and younger meet in the morning at the hatchery to sign in for the derby. The afternoon brings the children and their families back for lunch and the weigh in to determine the winning catch. Everyone is a winner at this event. Free items are usually provided by
sponsors and local merchants. Adults fish for free on this day also so plan to make this a family affair. The hatchery is a wonderful place to visit throughout the year.
June 14th Kernville Whitewater Wednesday Rafting on the Kern
On this day and this day only….lickity split rides are offered at a discounted rate. The cost for one ride is $27.00 but the real deal is for two rides down the Kern River and lunch for just $47.00. The rides should be thrilling as our river flow is up and the whitewater

July 2nd: FIREWORKS!!! Set off after dark from Engineer Point
This yearly firework show is illuminated by the lake reflection and can be viewed from numerous areas around the lake.

July 30th and 31st: 7th Annual Hummingbird Celebration
Numerous species have been tracked and counted in the Kern River Valley. Our valley inhabits one of the largest
Hummingbird populations. Many are migratory, some are permanent residents, all beautiful and unique. These
fascinating little Birds have really got personality and are in a class all their own.
Aug. 26th - Aug. 28th: U.S. Slalom National and Pan American World Cups
